In a new addition to ESPN Esports, we will be looking back at which games and streamers reigned supreme on Twitch during the past month. Here are the top 10 streamers that captivated the masses in July.
All statistics are taken from Sullygnome, a website dedicated to tracking Twitch numbers and analyzing them. Streamers are ranked by total number of hours watched.
1. Félix 'xQc' Lengyel (Canada)
The man known as the 'gaming warlord' finds himself as our inaugural No. 1 streamer in our rankings. A former Overwatch pro, xQc has transformed himself into the ultimate variety streamer on Twitch, regularly streaming over 10 hours a day with very few off days. While other variety streamers generally have a game they fall back on hen nothing has recently been released, xQc will play everything and anything, his nearly 40,000 average viewers staying on his channel regardless of whether he's playing Overwatch or a game they've never heard of.
2. Jens 'TheRealKnossi' Knossalla (Germany)
What happens when popular streamers, musicians and media personalities go out into the woods and stream themselves on a fishing trip? Madness, and a lot of viewers. That's exactly what TheRealKnossi did in July with his Angelcamp event, a 72-hour extravaganza where he and a bunch of other top German personalities took to the wilderness to document the complete hijinks. Part Survivor, part Jackass, part musical festival, Angelcamp was bigger than any esport event in July, with over 280,000 concurrent viewers tuning in one point to check out the camping trip to end all camping trips.
3. Nick 'NICKMERCS' Kolcheff (USA)
At No. 3, we have the leading Call of Duty: Warzone streamer on Twitch. Formerly one of the top Fortnite streamers on the platform, NICKMERCS has transitioned seamlessly to Warzone, another battle royale game. It has been a continued ascent for the shooting game expert, raising his average viewership for the seventh month in a row. At the start of 2020, he was averaging around 14,000 viewers every time he went live. Now? NICKMERCS averages over 43,000 viewers when he streams daily, putting himself in contention to take over the No. 1 spot in August if his upward trend continues.

4. Zack 'Asmongold' (USA)
Following List Twitch
Asmongold goes hand in hand with World of Warcraft on Twitch, almost single-handedly keeping the section in the top 10 of the most-watched games on a monthly basis. For the month of July, it was no different for Asmongold, who streamed over 140 hours of the Blizzard classic online role-playing game and averaged over 40,000 viewers.
5. Alexandre 'Gaules' Borba (Brazil)
The leading streamer in Brazil, Gaules is a jack of all trades. He hosts VALORANT tournaments and highlights niche games on Twitch like Sea of Thieves, but when we're talking about his bread and butter, it's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. When it comes to the fanatical world of Brazilian Counter-Strike, Gaules is at the center of it all, hosting the broadcasts of the most popular teams in the country such as the aptly named Made in Brazil and their rivals in Furia. When either those two teams are in an important match, Gaules can topple over 300,000 concurrent viewers on Twitch. Even in a month where Counter-Strike pros went on a break from competitive play, Gaules still finds himself in the top-five of July's most-watched streamers. Once Counter-Strike tournaments start up again, don't be too surprised if Brazil's top streamer nabs the No. 1 position.
6. Raúl 'AuronPlay' Álvarez Genes (Spain)
AuronPlay is a social media tycoon, a giant on Youtube with over 24 million subscribers and 10 million on Instagram. A vlogger that started uploading videos a decade ago on Youtube, he's transitioned his popularity on one platform to another, spreading his humor over to Twitch with streams in games like Fortnite and Minecraft. His main game at the moment is Grand Theft Auto V, where AuronPlay and other top Spanish streamers have taken to the game's expansive roleplaying scene. While streaming the least amount of all streamers in the top 10 (85 hours), AuronPlay's legion of fans come out in droves every time he flips the switch on Twitch, averaging 71,000 viewers.
7. Timothy 'TimTheTatman' John Betar (USA)
Biggest Twitch Streamer 2020
TimTheTatman's growth on Twitch has been a gradual grind that has turned the first-person shooting game aficionado into one of the platform's leading faces. Back in 2015, TimTheTatman averaged under 10,000 viewers. He broke that barrier in 2016 and continued his success into 2017 with the release of worldwide phenomenon Fortnite. He finally broke into 20,000 average viewers in 2018 and had the second-best month of his career viewership-wise this July as Call of Duty: Warzone has become his signature game to play on stream.
8. Tyler 'Tyler1' Steinkamp (USA)
Tyler1 plays a lot of League of Legends. In the month of July, Tyler1 didn't play any other game on stream but League of Legends, amassing over 211 hours of the game on stream. Since his universal unban from the game at the beginning of 2018, Tyler1 is either streaming League of Legends or on a hiatus, playing League of Legends off stream so he can climb the online ladder without players trying to seek him out in-game. With the 2020 League of Legends world championship on the horizon, the duo of Tyler1's endless streaming and the millions watching the biggest esports event of the year should keep League of Legends and its top streamer at the forefront of Twitch's viewership hierarchy.
9. Bruno 'Nobru' (Brazil)
Biggest Twitch Streamers Of All Time
If North America and Europe have Fortnite, then Brazil has Free Fire. Although not a well-known property in the United States, Free Fire is one of the most popular games in all of Brazil, a mobile battle royale game that has its own set of esports tournaments around the world. At one of those tournaments, the Free Fire World Series 2019, Nobru and his Brazilian teammates won it all with Nobru being named MVP. A newcomer to the Twitch scene, his popularity from the competitive world has transitioned to being a personality on Twitch, averaging 33,000 viewers in July. Not only does Nobru play his signature game of Free Fire, but like many other streamers, he's found himself role-playing in GTA V with other popular personalities.

10. Jaryd 'summit1g' Lazar (USA)
There's no better way to end our top 10 than one of the originals on the platform. Summit1g, a former Counter-Strike pro, has transitioned to streaming much like xQc, first playing the game he became famed for on stream before branching out to more variety games, picking up what's new and interesting in the world of competitive shooters. Nowadays, summit1g has hit the sweet spot all streamers wish to get to, where they're not beholden to a main game and can bounce around numerous titles without worrying about losing their fanbase. Over the course of July, he streamed plenty of his own personal favorites like role-playing in GTA V or spending over 190 hours in The Elder Scrolls Online.
